You are not alone

The KRAS G12C community is here for you. There are many lung cancer organizations and patient communities that can provide you with useful information, and offer you and your caregiver much needed support. We’ve included a few examples of independent, non-profit organizations that may be able to help patients with NSCLC.

The above are examples of independent,
non-profit organizations that may provide useful information and resources. Amgen has no
control over these programs and provides
information as a courtesy only.

Sometimes it’s challenging to squeeze all of your questions and concerns into an appointment. Here are some tips to help you learn as much as possible during your visit.*

Before your appointment

  • You may want to write down the things you want to discuss. Put the most important topics at the top so you get to them first.

  • You may want to consider bringing a friend or loved one with you to help keep you focused. If you’re doing a video call instead, make sure your companion is beside you.

During your appointment

  • Go through your list and ask follow-up questions if you don’t understand an answer.

  • By the time you leave, understanding the following may be helpful:

  • Why you’re being put on a treatment

  • How the treatment works

  • What to expect from the treatment

After your appointment

  • Review what you learned. Sometimes it helps to explain what the doctor told you to someone else. If you can’t explain it, you may need to call the doctor to review it again.

KEY LUNG CANCER TERMS

Below are some of the many lung cancer words your doctor might use.

  • Biomarker

Biomarkers are measurable characteristics that can provide information about your lung cancer. They can be measured in blood, other bodily fluids, or tissues.1

  • Complete response

On an imaging scan, the tumor looks like it is completely gone as a result of treatment.1

  • KRAS

KRAS is a protein that's in all our bodies. It works like an on/off switch that tells cells when to grow and when to stop growing.2

  • KRAS G12C

KRAS G12C is a mutation of the KRAS protein. This mutation causes the KRAS "on/off switch" to get stuck in the "on" position, leading to rapid and uncontrollable cell growth that can form cancerous tumors.3

  • Mutation

A permanent change in the DNA sequence of a gene.1

  • Partial response

The tumor has shrunk in size by at least 30%.4

  • Stable disease

The tumor's size did not change much since a patient’s last imaging scan.1
